The three-man team of Gonçalo Bandeira, Vasco Bica, and Tiago Ladeira boosted Miranda Factory Team's lead in the team rankings for the Portuguese Downhill Cup after scoring a first, a second, and a fourth place in round 4 of the series in Santa Marinha, Ribeira de Pena this last weekend. With a 138-point gap between Miranda and second place team MCF/XDREAM/Município de S. Brás, Miranda holds a comfortable lead going into the deciding round of the series on May 27 in Porto de Mós.
Bandeira's first place in Santa Marinha marked his third podium victory in the Cup series so far, where he's piled up 990 points and holds a 230-point lead over second place in the Cadet category. Recently-crowned European Champion in the junior category, Tiago Ladeira, has distanced himself by 135 points from number 2, Tomás Barreiros. Come May 27 however, the race to watch will be the elite race, where Vasco Bica narrowly trails the number one ranked racer by 3 little points. A wrist injury has hindered Bica's podium ambitions in the past couple races but, with such a slim points margin, Bica boldly states that the race in Porto de Mós — this is to say the series title — is wide open.
We'll be watching the racing closely on May 27 as the Miranda Factory Team will be hunting for podium finishes. We'll be there to support the team so if you're there too, drop by to say "Hi!"
