Miranda Bike Parts has released its 2024 Sustainability Report, reaffirming its commitment to sustainable innovation, local value creation, and climate responsibility.
The new report – independently reviewed and validated by SGS, the global leader in inspection, verification, testing, and certification – sets a new benchmark for transparency and accountability in the cycling industry.
Prepared in accordance with the GRI Standards 2021, this report outlines Miranda’s measurable progress across environmental, social, and governance (ESG) areas. In 2024, 82% of the company’s total energy consumption came from 100% renewable electricity, 75% of wastewater from production was reused, and recycled aluminium with 80% post-consumer content was introduced into several key components.
At the same time, Miranda’s supply chain continues to be an example of sustainability: approximately 77% of the suppliers are Portuguese, and around 95% of our supply chain is European. This regionalised approach reduces CO2 emissions from transport, strengthens traceability and operational continuity, and directly benefits local economies, reinforcing the company’s vision of a more resilient and closer industry.
Beyond environmental performance, the 2024 report highlights progress in social responsibility and governance. 92% of employees received sustainability training, 47% of the workforce is female, and 77% of suppliers are based in Portugal, ensuring that value creation remains local. Miranda also earned two major recognitions in 2024: the Sustainability Leadership Award from the Business Intelligence Group and renewal of its COTEC Innovative Status.
“The year 2024 was particularly significant for Miranda Bike Parts, consolidating our position as a benchmark in the sustainable mobility industry. In a challenging context marked by global economic instability and uncertainty in supply chains, we have once again demonstrated our unique ability to turn challenges into opportunities,” comments Miranda Bike Parts CEO João Miranda on the release of the report. It is already the fifth sustainability report in the history of the Portuguese company.
